Technology

Apple designs and sells consumer hardware (iPhone, Mac, iPad, Apple Watch), software, and services, and is one of a small handful of companies to have reached a $3 trillion market capitalization. Its business model has shifted over the past decade from being almost entirely hardware-revenue-driven toward a growing share from Services (App Store, subscriptions, licensing), which now makes up a significant and fast-growing minority of total revenue.

Apple is known for an unusually tight, design-led product development process, extensive secrecy around unreleased products, and a deliberately small public-facing leadership team relative to its size. Under Jobs, the culture was frequently described as demanding and occasionally combative in pursuit of design perfection; under Tim Cook, outside accounts generally describe a more operationally disciplined, less confrontational management style while maintaining the same secrecy and design-review rigor.
